We look forward to singing with you! The chorus welcomes singers without regard to religion, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, or disability.

Auditions

Auditions test your voice quality and range, and your ability to sing with good pitch, tone, and timing, and to blend with your section. It is helpful if you can read music, but not essential. The audition takes about 20 minutes.

During the audition you would:

  • Meet the music director and a few of the SPC singers.
  • Have a brief conversation about your musical experience and interests.
  • Sing a brief solo (about 90 seconds) of your choice. (Please bring with you (or have memorized) a short piece that you are familiar with that shows off your voice. If it requires accompaniment, please bring the piano score.)
  • Be asked to do some vocalizations.
  • Learn and sing a short song with the other singers.

To schedule an audition, please submit an “Audition Request” form on this website. This form asks some questions about your musical experience and your interest in the Seattle Peace Chorus.

Rehearsals and Concerts

The chorus rehearses for two concerts each season, one in the fall and one in the spring.

Rehearsals run from September through November and January through June, with some breaks for holidays. Rehearsals are held Monday evenings from 7:00 pm to 9:30 pm in the Wallingford District of Seattle. Extra Saturday daytime rehearsals are sometimes scheduled as needed. In the week preceding a concert, two or three evening rehearsals may be scheduled.

The chorus currently rehearses for fall (November) and spring (May/June) concerts. Other concert dates and singing opportunities may be added.

Membership

Our members pay dues each season to help fund the operations of the choir. New members receive a discounted rate of $250 (the regular rate is $280) for their first season. If you are joining us for the second half of our season (spring only), we would ask you to pay for a half-season membership, which is $150 (discounted from $180). Scholarships may be available, and no one will be turned away for lack of funds. Seattle Peace Chorus is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and relies on its members for volunteer involvement and co-creation of community.
