Hope Will Not Fail
Mark A. Miller
Words by David Bjorlin
Hope will not fail,
no, hope will not fail.
Though anguish and apathy seem to prevail,
no, hope will not fail;
hope, hope will prevail.
Peace will not fail,
no, peace will not fail.
Though vengeance and violence seem to prevail,
no, peace will not fail;
peace, peace will prevail.
Believe in the coming,
the coming of peace!
Though vengeance and violence seem to prevail,
no, peace will not fail;
peace, peace will prevail.
Joy will not fail,
no, joy will not fail.
Though mourning and misery seem to prevail,
no, joy will not fail;
joy, joy will prevail.
Believe in the blessing,
the blessing of joy!
Though mourning and misery seem to prevail,
no, joy will not fail;
joy, joy will prevail.
Love will not fail,
no, love will not fail.
Though hatred and hopelessness seem to prevail,
no, love will not fail;
love, love will prevail.
Believe in the power,
the power of joy!
Though hatred and hopelessness seem to prevail,
no, love will not fail;
love, love will prevail.
May I Be Filled: Kath’s Tune
Mark A. Miller
Words adapted by Lindy Thompson
May I be filled with joyful loving kindness,
may I be calm and at peace.
May I be safe, may happiness surprise me,
may I be awake and free.
May you be filled with joyful loving kindness,
may you be calm and at peace.
May you be safe, may happiness surprise you,
may you be awake and free.
May we be filled with joyful loving kindness,
may we be calm and at peace.
May we be safe, may happiness surprise us,
may we be awake and free.
La Lucha
Mark A. Miller
En la lucha hay vida,
en la lucha esperanza.
En la lucha hay vida,
¡siempre hay, siempre hay esperanza!
En la lucha hay vida,
en la lucha esperanza.
En la lucha hay vida,
¡siempre hay, siempre hay esperanza!
Cantamos en la lucha!
Cantamos por nuestras vidas,
¡siempre hay, siempre hay esperanza!
When Justice Is Denied
Mark A. Miller
Words by Adam M. L. Tice, inspired by Martin Luther
When justice is denied
and injustice threatens anyone,
when justice is denied
then injustice threatens ev’ryone,
ev’ryone, ev’ryone.
We Need a Revolution
Mark A. Miller
Words by Dean Beach, inspired by Dorothy Day
We need a revolution,
we need a revolution,
we need a revolution of the heart, of the heart.
We need a revolution,
we need a revolution of the heart, of the heart,
and it has to start, has to start
with each one of us.
I Believe
Mark A. Miller
Anonymous Jewish poem
I believe in the sun,
I believe in the sun,
even when, even when it’ not shining.
I believe in love,
I believe in love,
even when, even when I don’t feel it.
I believe in God,
I believe in God,
even when, even when God is silent.
Show Us How to Love
Mark A. Miller
Words by Lindy Thompson
Hearts open, mind awake,
change us now for heaven’s sake.
Leave us not alone in hatred’s wake.
Show us how to love,
show us how to love, show us how,
show us how to love.
Hearts open, souls awake,
rules we made we now must break.
With our very own lives at stake
we must learn to love,
we must learn to love, we must learn,
we must learn to love.
Eyes open, shocked awake,
much to learn from our mistakes.
Draw us closer in our heartache.
Show us how to love,
show us how to love, show us how,
show us how to love.
Show us how to love,
show us how to love, show us how,
show us how to love.
Only Love
Mark A. Miller
Words by Adam M. L. Tice, inspired by Martin Luther King, Jr.
Violence only leads to violence.
Hatred only leads to hate.
Violence only leads to violence.
Hatred only leads to hate.
Only love, only love,
only love leads to love, only love!
Only love, only love,
only love leads to love, only love!
Let Me Listen
Mark A. Miller
Words by Charles Anthony Silvestri
We come from different places,
You and I,
on different paths we journey;
let me walk beside you for a while —
let me listen.
So briefly do our lonely paths converge,
Yours and mine,
along this human journey;
what hollow loss to never hear your song —
let me listen.
Let me listen,
let me listen as you tell your story:
Your triumphs and your tears,
Your trials and your fears.
Your story never has been mine to tell —
so let me listen.
And if a silence is your choice to keep,
then I will keep it with you;
as long as we walk together, You and I,
I will listen.
Too long you’ve waited, too long,
to share your journey, your song — so let me listen.
When There’s Trust in the Room
Mark A. Miller
Words by John Thornburg
When there’s trust in the room, we can breathe;
when we don’t undercut or deceive;
when there’s grace in the air, and respect everywhere,
when there’s trust in the room, we can breathe.
When there’s trust in the room, we can see;
when the blinders come off, and we’re free;
when we’re honest and fair, and receptive to care,
when there’s trust in the room, we can see.
Hallelujah! Sing hallelujah! When there’s trust in the room, we can see;
when we’re honest and fair, and receptive to care,
when there’s trust in the room, we can see.
When there’s trust in the room, we can dream, we can dream;
when our motives are just what they seem;
when our thoughts freely flow, and we’re challenged to grow,
when there’s trust in the room, we can dream.
Hallelujah! Sing hallelujah! When there’s trust in the room, we can dream.
When our thoughts freely flow, and we’re challenged to grow,
when there’s trust in the room,
when there’s trust in the room,
when there’s trust in the room, we can dream.
We can dream.
Of Such We Dream
Will Rand
Words by audience members from the Seattle Peace Chorus Concert on 28 March 2026
Reader 1: I dream of a world run by generosity instead of fragile ego
Where all are cared for
And where I finally get the highest score on Galaga
Reader 2: I dream about a time when greed and power
are replaced by what’s best for all people
Reader 3: I dream that Seattle’s proposals for housing
start saying, “YES in my backyard.”
Reader 4: I dream of a day when trans lives are valued equally.
Reader 5: Children, minorities, women, animals, and plants
are safe from violence and insecurity and bullying
Reader 6: I dream a world without wars
Restorative justice
More singing, more art, more nature
Chorus:
Space to breathe, space to live,
space to thrive: love.
I dream a world where we love more than we fight,
that we share more than we hoard
that we respect the land more than money.
I dream that children have something to hope for,
enough to eat, and a safe place to sleep.
Space to breathe, space to live,
space to thrive:
We dream a world where all belong.
Reader 7: I dream of improved democracy for everyone
Forgiveness is taught and becomes a shared value
Reader 8: That everyone feels free and safe
to express and be themselves,
Reader 9: A country where people work together
with kindness and respect toward unified goals
A world where there is acceptance of each person
Reader 10: I dream that all would find love for botany and nature
Ice cream for every “won”
Friendship and cheer
Reader 11: Peace and happiness is the nature of our being
We share our being with everyone and everything
Reader 12: That my child is safe
that she feels safe enough to bring her own child into this world
Reader 13: I dream a world that is unpolluted
full of all the animals
a lot less cars
No wars
Full of bird song
Chorus:
I dream a world
I dream a world at peace, enfolded in love,
bold in hope, alight with joy!
Solo by Mark A. Miller:
. . . Wheel of life goes round and round.
Chorus:
I dream a world
I dream a world at peace, at peace, at peace!
Chorus continues with the words of Langston Hughes:
I dream a world where one
no other one will scorn,
where love will bless the earth and peace its paths adorn.
I dream a world where all will know sweet freedom’s way,
where greed no longer saps the soul
nor avarice blights our day.
A world I dream where black or white,
whatever race you be,
will share the bounties of the earth
and every one is free.
Love Will Rise Again
Mark A. Miller
I won’t give up on you. Don’t give up on me.
I won’t give up on all that seems so out of reach.
I believe in love. I believe in you.
We’ll hold each other to the light, and we will see this through.
As the sun rises, so will love.
Voices are rising, so will love.
We will never give up. We will overcome.
We will remember all the good we thought was gone.
We believe in love. We believe in truth.
We’ll hold each other to the light, and we will see this through.
Given the chance our love will rise.
Given the chance our love will rise.
I believe in forgiveness, and I won’t stop giving.
I’ll sing of all the things that make our lives worth living.
We will sing through loss. We will sing through the pain.
We’ll hold each other through the night, and love will rise!
We will sing Hallelujah! We will shout for joy!
We’ll sing of all that fear and hate cannot destroy.
We will sing through loss. We will sing through the pain.
We’ll hold each other through our tears, and love will rise again!
