Join us at Phinney Ridge Lutheran Church in Seattle where the Seattle Peace Chorus, directed by Frederick N. West, will build a song bridge spanning Eastern and Western classical traditions. For the first half of the concert, with guest artists South Indian violinist Amrutha Varshini Achalla, tabla player Anil Prasad, and composer, sarod player, and lead vocalist Richard Russell, the chorus performs original kirtan music, and Amrutha, Anil, and Richard perform an Indian classical rāga. For the second half, Richard, Amrutha, Anil, and a string quartet led by guest artist Matt Weiss accompany our performance of movements from Beethoven’s Mass in C. The chorus will sing Maurice Duruflé’s “Ubi Caritas” and peace songs composed by Frederick N. West. Matt Weiss - first violin, Natalie Toida - second violin, William Goodwin - viola, Peter Lawson - cello, Darth Nilesen - double bass.
